To streamline the traffic in Srinagar city and ensure better traffic movement on the roads a high level meeting was convened by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal on Thursday.

The meeting discussed various matters regarding better traffic movement on valley roads which includes removal of encroachments along roadsides and footpaths by shopkeepers and vendors.

It was decided that a committee for removal of roadside encroachments would be constituted which will be headed by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar while Joint Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority are its members.

The committee will take all measures to clear the city roads of all encroachments to make the traffic flow smooth and reduce the frequency of traffic jams.

The representatives of transport associations apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the problems they are facing with regard to their trade.

Kansal asked the Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority to constitute a committee to examine the grievances and problems of valley transporters and suggest remedial measures.
