Jammu: Gujjar leader and four time lawmaker Mian Altaf Ahmad wants immediate action against the police men who acted as mute spectator when the gau rakshaks were attempting killing the Gujjar family in Talwara area of Reasi. He was speaking to media in Jammu on Tuesday.

“They say they have arrested some people but I am told police have not registered cases of attempt to murder against them,” Mian Ataf was quoted saying. “I first want action against the cops who were watching the mayhem. They ere acting like spectators.”

“Had it happened in Kashmir, police would killed all of them and accused them of being terrorists,” Mian Altaf said. “This is how you are mainlining two standards for two places – one in Kashmir and another in Jammu.”

Mian Altaf said it was heart wrenching to see the goons attacking the family with rods, beating an old man as his daughter was crying and begging.

NC leader, who represents Kangan in the assembly, addressed a news conference in Jammu.

Cow vigilantes in Reasi attacked a Gujjar family Friday night. They looted their herds – now recovered, and broke bones of some of them, who are currently recovering in Jammu’s GMC hospital. Police said they have registered a case and made some arrests as well.
