SRINAGAR: Even after the colleges were closed by the state government till Friday, the junior colleges and the schools have joined the protests. There were minor clashes at a few places and a woman was reported injured in Bandipore, reports said.

Students of the GHS School Hariganiwan and Chattergul – both in Kangan, jointly blocked the main road on Thursday. They were protesting against the raids on Pulwama College in which more than fifty students were injured, and the subsequent use of force against students. They blocked the highway which led to clashes. There was no report about any injury so far.

The students were raising anti-government slogans and seeking justice for the students who were injured.

Another set of clashes erupted in Goshbug Pattan where various schools of the area assembled together and came out in a protest.

In a similar incident in Bandipore, an unidentified women was injured when she was hit by a stone. She has been hospitalised, reports.

Though authorities had stopped any class work in the colleges till Friday, the junior colleges – the higher secondary schools and in certain cases the high schools, have started protesting against the police raids in Pulwama.

Sort of student unrest started after students resisted police raids on Pulwama college on Saturday last in which more than 65 students were injured. Police said they also had almost 30 cops injured.

These events led to massive student protests on Monday across Kashmir in which a number of students were injured. Though police exhibited restraint by not involving the paramilitary forces, even then many students were injured. One of the girl students currently in SMHS was visited by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday evening.

Interestingly, the Education Minister has attached the services of college principal Abdul Hamid Sheikh. Though an enquiry was ordered, the decision has conveyed that the government has side of the “mighty” security set up. It has added to the tensions further as teaching community is quite restive over the decision.

The colleges are supposed to reopen on Saturday.

Meanwhile reports said scores of students of state run High school at Surfraw in Ganderbal’s Gund belt held a protest demonstration and blocked Srinagar Leh highway for hours against non availability of English teacher in their school for past two months. Later SHO  Police Station Gund Khursheed  Ahmad pacified the protester’s by assuring them that their demand will be solved. The students resumed routine, later.
