The state Congress Tuesday created a stir on the official Durbar move day, terming the present government ‘an unholy coalition’.

Taking out a protest rally against the state government, Congress alleged the ruling PDP had entered into an “unholy coalition” with the BJP for the petty political gains and to garb power.

“PDP polarised the situation before the elections and sought votes from the people on the pretext of stopping the BJP from coming to power, but now it is the PDP which brought the BJP to the secretariat,” Mir said while holding protest demonstrations at City Center Lal Chowk.

The state Congress chief reminded Mufti that he was in power with the help of the same party against which he had sought votes from the people. “”Congress wants to ask him (Mufti) what was his compulsion to join hands with the BJP. He told people that it was only the PDP which could stop the BJP, but now RSS flags adorn his office. We will fight against this unholy alliance,” Mir vowed.

He said the people had understood the “real intentions” of PDP and would “teach him a lesson.”

Mir, who earlier was Tourism minister in Omar Abdullah’s tenure, was on Tuesday stopped by Police at Budshah Chowk here when he tried to lead the protest rally from the party headquarters at M A Road. The police did not let the protesters move towards the secretariat where the state government restarted functioning on Tuesday.

Mir while slamming the state government over delaying the relief package of the flood hit people saying such actions of the government deserve only condemnation.  He also castigated the state authorities over the New Recruitment policy, pitching for its immediate roll back.

Group of youth from Maisuma area raised pro-freedom slogans as Mir was addressing the Congress activists at Budshah Chowk. Later stone pelting also was witnessed in the area which made Congress activists to disperse.
