Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) teachers Tuesday staged a protest here in Srinagar expressing concern over the dilly dally tactics adopted by Department of Education in their regularization.

Scores of female teachers assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and alleged that despite clear cut directions from the General Administrative Department, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir have not regularized their services while in Jammu, the process has been completed already.

They said that the government resolved their matter in 2016 by issuing formal orders for their ‘absorption’ into the education department.

However, they said they have been pushed to the wall by callous attitude of the Education Department, which has not issued orders in the last six months.

“We are suffering. We are now fighting the case of our regularization for a long time. We have used all our means. We have suffered huge mental stress over the years. We have even exhausted all our resources after the case. Our only hope is our regularization,” Mymoona Khan told CNS.

“We fail to understand as to why the authorities are delaying our regularization in the Education Department. We even brought the matter into the notice of the authorities of the department,” she added

She said that when the Director School Education, Jammu, has issued the orders for KGBVs in his zone, why is Director School Education, Kashmir, reluctant to do so.

“If the director is authorized to regularize KGBV Ret teachers, why he is not complying with the order?” she asked.

“As per the statement issued by the Director School Education Kashmir, they have said that they need to seek confirmation from the Commissioner Secretary concerned. The same has already been taken in detail already,” she said.

She said that Director School Education, Kashmir, identified 202 clear SSA vacancies almost two months ago and has even signed the orders of eight teachers belonging to district Kupwara.

Director School Education, Kashmir, Rajeev Ranjan said that he is busy in a meeting while Minister for Education Syed Altaf Bukhari told CNS that he will certainly resolve the issue of these teachers. (CNS)
