SRINAGAR

A 22-year-old Adil  Misger of the old city Nowhatta area who remained on a fore front during rescue operations in floods and saved hundreds of lives has been detained by police and sent to central Jail, Adil’s family told KNS.

Afrooza, whose husband was killed during the turmoil, says Adil is a lone bread earner for his family and he has been detained by the police ahead of the polls without any reason. “How could he create any disturbance in polls? He is running a shop near Jamia Masjid since years and the police has detained him and was shifted to Central jail,” Afrooza said.

She maintained that Adil remained a front runner in carrying rescue operations throughout Srinagar and saved hundreds of lives. “He risked his live many times to save others. His name also appeared in newspapers which hailed his courage during floods and now the government has awarded him for the same.”

Adil’s mother said that her son should be immediately released so that he could carry on his business without further hardships.
