Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri; Minister for Industries and Commerce Abdul Ghani Kohli; MLC Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muneer-Ul-Islam Saturday paid obeisance at temple of Shiva in South Kashmir. The ancient cave temple, popularly known as Chota Amarnath is situated at Thajiwara, Bijbehara of in South Kashmir.

Kashmiri Pandits who arrived in Bijbehara from Jammu took part in Yatra and offered prayers on Saturday at the cave temple of Shiva in South Kashmir.

“Annual festival and Yatra on the eve of Shrawan Purnamashi and Raksha Bandhan at Pracheen Cave of Shiva at Thajiwara-Bijbehara was celebrated with traditional gaiety,” a statement said. “This Asthapan is believed to be inseparable part of cave of Swami Amarnath, which has similar religious importance.”

“The initiative in this regard was taken by the Managing Committee of Devesthan Prabandak committee (DPC), Bijbehara, to bring the Muslim brethren and Kashmiri Pandits closer through two days festival,” the statement said. “Through this festival an attempt has been made to revive the temples of this Tehsil as well as old brotherhood between KPs and Kashmiri Muslims said,” Prof M L Malla, the President of the Prabandhak committee Bijbehara.

“We are incomplete without each other,” the members from both the communities said in when they saw each other.

The Managing Committee of Devesthan Prabandak Committee has expressed its gratitude to all who have coordinated in organizing this festivity and also have appreciated the co-operation given by the local Muslims.
