Exposing BJP’s ‘double standard and brazen attempt to mislead people by narrating false tales’, Working President, National Conference and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday expressed surprise over the ‘ignorance of BJP and its leadership about the ground realities in Jammu Kashmir.’

“The misleading statement of BJP leadership about the tourist traffic in Jammu and Kashmir and promising that it would ask Bollywood to resume shooting of films in the valley, depicts the total lack of knowledge of the BJP about the ground situation in the State,” he said in a statement.

Substantiating his statement with facts, Omar said that BJP and its leadership should know that the number of yatris to Mata Vaishno Devi ji Shrine has crossed over one crore figure yearly in the tenure of his government and during the last five year more than 50 lakh tourists visited the valley annually which is also a record so far in last about 25 years. He said that BJP should also know that Bollywood film companies are already busy in the valley for shooting films and this process is going on since last five years.

Addressing an election rally at Vijaypur organized by National Conference, Jammu province in favour of its candidate Surjit Singh Slathia, he said that it is absurd on the part of BJP to deceive people by asking them to vote in favour of Narendra Modi while the fact is that Modi is not fighting Assembly election and as such has nothing to do with the local issues.

Omar said that National Conference is not doing politics on religion, region or development like BJP. “We do not create wedge between Hindus and Muslims, Kashmiri-Jammuvi and Ladakhi, and do not do politics on the issues of development and public good”, he said and added that unity, solidarity, communal amity and equitable development of all regions and sub-regions of the State is benchmark of National Conference and it will put all its might and efforts to strengthen pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.

Working President, National conference also ridiculed BJP for making false statements on development process. He said it was his government which provided scores of big ticket and mega projects to Jammu which includes flyovers, bridges, gondola, artificial lake, sewerage and drainage disposal systems, power generation schemes, road upgradation and water supply augmentation works, etc. He said it was his government which provided Rs.10 crore mega water supply project for Kishtwar town where BJP leadership in its rally without knowing about the fact promised people for the same.

The Chief Minister said that thousands of development schemes completed and commissioned in the State during the last about six years in all the regions and sub-regions itself vindicate the high performance of his government.

Castigating Congress and its leadership for attempting to take credit for all the good work done by National Conference led government in the State and shifting blames for its own shortcoming and failures on the National Conference, Omar Abdullah described this attitude of Congress as the highest example of opportunism and falsehood.

“You cannot take credit for all the good work done by my government and blame the National Conference and its leadership for the shortcomings of your own party and Ministers”, he told Congress leadership rejecting their poll propaganda of blame game to mislead people.

“Infact Congress opposed the proposal moved by me three times in the Cabinet for creation of new administrative units in the State”, he said maintaining that Congress now wants to take its all credit for itself to lure voters.

The Working President, National Conference said that when he and his party colleagues were campaigning for Congress candidates in Parliament Elections as also projecting Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister candidate, the Congress party from top to bottom was showering all praises on National Conference and its leadership and now they are finding all faults in us. He criticized the Congress party over this attitude.

Omar said that National Conference represents unity, solidarity and brotherhood of Jammu and Kashmir and the motto of this party is to render best service to the people and the State to make Jammu and Kashmir a modern, prosperous, peaceful and economically strong. He said people are the fountain head of power and National Conference always relies on the support of people of Jammu and Kashmir. He asked the people to vote wholeheartedly for National Conference candidates and ensure thumping victory of the party in the Assembly Elections.

Omar showered praises on Surjit Singh Slathia and said that Slathia has exhibited his highest public service character which is exemplary and of high degree of sincerity and commitment.

The Election rally was also addressed by provincial president, National Conference, Jammu, Devender Singh Rana, Surjit Singh Slathia and other leaders of National Conference.
