Independent legislator Er Sheikh Ab Rasheed will be contesting against PDP leader and Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti in South Kashmir’s Islamabad in the coming election for the assembly constituency.
Sources said that Awmi Itehad Party has applied and received election form for Er Rasheed. Rasheed is a sitting lawmaker and represents Langate assembly constituency in state assembly.
Sources said that Rasheed is expected to file his nomination papers for the upcoming Islamabad election on Wednesday.
The Islamabad assembly seat fell vacant with the demise of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 07, 2016.
The Islamabad seat goes to elections on June 19. National Conference has nominated its businessman, Iftikhar Misger for the seat while Hilal Shah will be fighting on Congress ticket.
