Amid tensions in state, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi Delhi at latters residence,  7 Lok Kalyan Marg.

The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on Sunday but was postponed due to unknown reasons.

Chief Minister later briefed media about the one-on-one with Prime Minister.

“It is important to hold talks at the latest… There is a need for conducive atmosphere for talks, and for governance,” Chei Minister said.

“I discussed the issue of less voting percentage in recent elections, and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Prime Minister Modi,” she said, as per reports.

She said that she pressed the issue of control over water resources in the state.

“I pressed that J&K doesn’t have control over water resources, and how losses caused by Indus Waters Treaty can be compensated,” she said

While saying Prime Minister has assured her he will follow policies laid down by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to resolve situation in Kashmir she said ,“Modi ji has repeatedly said that he would follow Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s footsteps, whose policy is of reconciliation not confrontation.” .

As per reports, Mehbooba  is likely to meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh later in the day.

Mehbooba was in New Delhi for a meeting of the Chief Ministers of the states where the BJP is in power or in a coalition. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister, Modi.
