A massive fire in Tragbal forest area of Bandipora has damaged vast forest area while the department has so far not taken any action to control the fire, reports said.
Compartment number 80 and 81 are burning from last many weeks witnesses said while department has yet to take any measures to control the spread of fire.
Witnesses said that fire and emergency contingents many a times reached the spot but they failed to control as there was no forest official available on ground to guide them.
They said that the fire which erupted weeks ago is spreading to more areas causing a huge damage to green gold.
Officials of Fire and Emergency department said that they have followed the calls from forest department many times in previous few weeks to douse the fire but there is a vast area under intermittent fire which cannot be controlled easily.
Meanwhile, forest officials in Bandipora said that the forest officials are on ground to control the fire. Locals have denied the claims.
