Taking strong note of the overcharging of freight for transportation of apple boxes, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri Monday directed concerned officers to regulate the freight charges immediately within and outside the state.

He was speaking in a review meeting regarding the progress of development and implementation of various schemes and programmes in Islamabad, an official spokesperson said this evening.

A detailed presentation on the progress of various developmental projects in district Anantnag was presented by DC Islamabad.

The presentation was followed by the detailed review of the progress of work under departments and schemes.

The schemes which were reviewed include MGNREGA, RMSA,NFB, Mid-Day meals, PMGSY, SSA, SBM, IAY and others.

Veeri sought details about the number of beneficiaries of each scheme, bottlenecks in implementation of the schemes and steps needed to make these schemes more participatory and beneficial for the public.

He stressed on achieving the targets and filing detailed Project Reports on time to the concerned agencies.

The Minister also sought report on the progress of Medical college, Trauma centre Bijbehahra, 300-bedded district hospital Islamabad, Degree college Larnoo,  Auditorium of Women’s college Islamabad and status of construction work on  various health centers and different irrigation schemes in the district.

He asked the officers to make periodical reviews of the progress of various developmental works a regular feature of departmental functioning.

Veeri also stressed on the close coordination between officers, ground staff and public to maximize the benefit of the development works.

The Minister said that schemes meant for the welfare of the poor and marginalized communities should be implemented on priority.

He also asked the officers to explore the ways of convergence by different departments.

The Minister added that at least one work in every Panchayat should be taken up under convergence scheme.

Veeri lauded the role of Health, FCS&CA, PHE and PDD and other departments for working tirelessly for the benefit of the public during the prevailing situation.

DC Kulgam Reviews Development Works

District Development Commissioner Showkat Aijaz Bhat today took a meeting to review the pace of progress on on-going Development Projects and the progress achieved under different schemes of  2016-17 financial year in Kulgam.

The meeting was attended by all the Sectoral officers and engineers of different departments including JKPCC.

The meeting was informed that the district which had an approved outlay of Rs 123.64 crore for which an expenditure of Rs 23.62 crore had been made by the end of August 2016 against an availability of Rs 32.74 crore.

The District Development commissioner impressed upon the officers to expedite the pace of progress on development projects so that the physical and financial targets would be achieved well in time by the end of third quarter of this financial year.

Deputy Commissioner reviewed sector wise work projects including the departments of JKPCC, R&B, Health, Education ,PHE, Police Housing Board/Corporation and the Rural Development Department.

On the occasion the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Additional Deputy Commissioner to identify the land for Multipurpose Community hall within ten days which is coming up in Kulgam town at an estimated cost Rs 3.00 Crore for social functions.

The Deputy Commissioner was apprised by the officers of different departments about the progress of work on the decisions taken in the previous Board meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that Deputy Commissioner enjoined upon the engineers to speed up the pace of work on ongoing development projects which include IPD Block of District Hospital, Labripora–Laroo bypass Road, Modal Residential School Tangmarg and Finance Complex at Kulgam.

DDC Ganderbal Inspects On-going Developmental Projects

The District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal today visited various areas of Ganderbal District to inspect the pace of progress on developmental projects being executed  in the district under various sectors.

During the day-long tour the District Development Commissioner visited Engineering College Safapora, Primary Health Centre Safapora, Block Development Office Safapora, and District Hospital Ganderbal.

Inspecting the construction work on Government College of Engineering and Technology, Safapora being executed by JKPCC at an estimated cost of Rs 26 crore, the District Development Commissioner directed the executing agency to expedite the pace of work ensuring its timely completion i.e. January 2018.

The said project is being financed by Higher Education Department under scheme RUSA.

Visiting Block Development Office Safapora wherein BDO Safapora apprised the District Development Commissioner about various issues pertaining to land dispute, the District Development Commissioner gave on-the-spot directions to Tehsildar Safapora to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

District Development Commissioner also visited the Primary Health Centre Safapora and District Hospital Ganderbal and inspected various sections of institutions.

He also interacted with the patients and attendants and enquired about the facilities being provided to patients in these health institutions.

During the inspection of the developmental works, District Development Commissioner stressed the need for synchronization and better coordination among concerned departments and executing agencies so that the projects are completed at an earliest and their benefits percolate to the people.

The District Development Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy General Manager JKPCC, Tehsildar Safapora and other concerned officers.
