Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday expressed concern over the “dubious standards” of Delhi rulers exhibiting “gross and visible contradiction in their words and deeds”. He was reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kerala speech.

“When they use or sponsor violence for their own interests, they call it strategy,” the statement said, adding, “But if the same goes against their views, they confront and label it as terrorism.”

Geelani agreed with Premier Modi that terrorism is “really a curse” and India should not forget its soldiers sacrifices. But he asked if the fall of Dhaka and training Sri Lankan nationals against the state was not terrorism. He told the Prime Minister that his “concern” over Baluchistan and his “interventionist policy” has sent tremors across India’s small neighbours.

Accusing Delhi of sponsoring terrorism, Geelani mentioned demolition of Babri Masjid, killing of thousands of unarmed Sikhs in retaliation of Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Samjhota Express, Malegaon, Mecca Masjid massacres.

Offering details about the state sponsored terrorism that dominated Kashmir since 1990s, Geelani said there were single individuals who would boast of killing 500 people. “Indian agencies legalize and justify the innocent killings in the attire of national security, but willingly and continuously shy away from the actual and genuine people’s resistance,” the statement said, insisting the people will continue their struggle.
