The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Minsters called for resolution of the decades old Kashmir issue as per resolution of UN Security Council.

This statement came at annual coordination meeting of the 57 OIC member countries in New York with Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah in the chair.

“The meeting adopted reports of various OIC Contact Groups, including the one on Jammu and Kashmir, which called on the Organization’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission to monitor the human rights situation in Kashmir and submit a report to the next session of the Council of Ministers,” Radio Pakistan said in a news report on Saturday evening.

Speaking at the meeting, the news report said, “Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, who led the Pakistan delegation to the meeting, said the aggression by Indian occupation forces took a new turn following the extra-judicial killing of the Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Wani about two months ago.”

Sartaj called on the international community to demand immediate “halt to Indian atrocities in Kashmir and implementation of UNSC resolutions providing Kashmiris their right to self-determination”.

The Advisor also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support to the cause of Palestine and restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East and Afghanistan, the report added.
