Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti here on Saturday called upon all the front line party members including legislators and ministers to reach out to people at the grass roots level to carry forward the “unfinished mission” of PDP patron and former Chief Minister, late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

Top PPD insiders told KNS that Mehbooba while addressing the first meeting of senior leaders including ministers, parliamentarians and legislators while calling for a reach out to the people at grass roots said that she has “taken note of the failures of some ministers who have failed to hit the ground in the present prevailing situation in Kashmir”.

Cautioning such ministers who have failed to get in touch with the people at grass roots, the PPD president said, “I know all about the actions and inactions of the ministers and close vigil is on those who have failed to deliver.”

Saying that the party is “confronted with some huge challenges”, the PDP president said that her party stands for resolution of all issues through dialogue and is satisfied with the efforts of peace and reconciliation made by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and his government at Delhi.

Complementing the Prime Minister for his travel to Pakistan to show goodwill gesture to his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, Mehbooba Mufti blamed the Pathankot attack for disruption in Indo-Pak dialogue process.

Referring to the recent visit of an All Party Delegation led by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP president said, “dialogue is the only option to resolve conflicts but in presence of violence talks can’t be held for resolving the un-resolved issue.”

Saying that talks with Pakistan can’t resume in presence of “violent” incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba said, “dialogue will resume only after normalcy returns to Jammu and Kashmir.”

Senior PDP leader and Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh also spoke on the occasion and asked the party leaders including ministers, parliamentarians and legislators to be prepared to face the huge challenges posed by the recent incidents and fast changing political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
