A massive Friday congregation was held in North Kashmir’s Sopore town today.

People from all villages marched towards main Jamia Masjid and offered mandatory Friday prayers there.

Soon after the Namaz ended, people took out a pro-freedom rally amid anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

“The rally was dispersed off near Chankhan bridge as forces including CRPF and police men fired tear gas canisters and pellets on the protestors,” eye witnesses said.

Reports said that several civilians were injured, however, they were treated locally. One injured from Warpora was shifted to hospital. He was hit by pellets in legs.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people offered mandatory Friday prayers in Rebban village of Rafiabad assembly segment. People from adjacent villages offered prayers together in the Eidgah.

Later, they took out a peaceful protest rally shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans from Rebban to Nowpora Sopore. Women folk were seen to offering water to people in the procession.
