Scores of civilians have been injured in forces action in Aanchar locality of Soura in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Forces raided Aanchar locality this morning and cordoned the whole area.

Local sources said, “the forces barged in to homes and beat people ruthlessly.”

They said, “the Jinab Sahab Aanchar was cordoned off from all sides and forces fired tear gas canisters, PAVA shells and pellets inside the premises where dozens of local residents are stuck.”

“At least dozen people have sustained injuries,” they said.

The locals added, “announcements are being made from the Shrine complex seeking ambulance service so that injured are shifted to hospital.”

They further said, “the office of Auqaf Committee was hit by a tear gas shells which set it afire but immediate action of locals saved it.” More so, fire fighters were rushed to the area to douse the flames.

Meanwhile, reports coming from SKIMS Soura, which is located adjacent to Aanchar, said that the intense tear gas and PAVA shelling has created suffocation in the tertiary hospital premises. “The tear smoke has filled the whole hospital premises and has created problem for patients as well as their attendants,” reports said.
