All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC-m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressed a press conference at his Nigeen residence on Tuesday. Mirwaiz was put under house arrest on July 08, 2016 evening and later he was shifted to a hut-turned-sub-jail at Chasma Shahi wherefrom he was released and subsequently detained at his house, once again, on the evening of Oct 24, 2016.

A statement issued by the APHC-m last late evening detailing the gist of press conference which is reproduced here verbatim

Dear Friends

During my two months’ incarceration and confinement, as I reflected, I was deeply concerned about the difficult conditions and collective tyranny that my people are undergoing.

At the same time, the resolve and sacrifices of my people gave me tremendous strength and inspiration.

We have already won a moral victory; 100 (hundred) days of continuous protest with wholehearted support and participation of people.

It has no parallel in the current world; it gives us a measure of our strength.

Only a nation which has deep resilience, determination and courage can sustain this kind of struggle. Alhamdulillah!

The people of Kashmir have shown to the world that they have a deep thirst for freedom for which they are prepared to stake their lives, their livelihood, their education, their everything.

The unbroken spirit of our youths who are on the streets, resolute, and continue to offer sacrifices. Their resistance and their passion for Azaadi is immense and is our most valuable and enduring resource.

The current struggle has taken our movement forward by opening out the possibilities and the scope of our struggle. The road has got cleared we have moved closer to our goal. We have to consolidate our gains.

It is important to foreground the continuity in our movement by educating people about the history of our movement specially our youth they are our future they have to take this struggle forward.

The last more than 100 days has shown us the way towards self-reliance and the need to build up our strength.

It is very important to constantly renew our relationship with the movement by commemorating and celebrating our martyrs, we have to take collective responsibility for connecting and supporting the families who are direct victims of the brutalities of our oppressors.

The Indian state along with its ethically and morally bankrupt local facilitators lie is totally exposed before us and the world.

It is quite evident that the only way that they can control us is through brute force. Surely that is unsustainable.

We have a long struggle ahead of us, we have to prepare ourselves, we have to survive and sustain ourselves to be able to fight this cunning and brutal oppression.

We are face to face with an enemy who refuses to acknowledge and recognize the truth and uses every means-lies and obfuscations to undermine our just struggle.

Times will change Insha Allah, we will see the fruits of our struggle.
