As the resistance leadership called strike continues in restive Kashmir, the incidents of mysterious fires have picked up in parts of Valley.

On Sunday evening, in three separate incidents, property worth lakhs was destroyed in mysterious fire incidents.

On Sunday evening, a Truck was set ablaze by unknown persons in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Reports said that the truck was set on fire in Pazalpora, Bijbehara in Islamabad district.

At the same time, clashes erupted in main Bijbehara in which some guests of a bridge groom were injured. The front windshield of bridge groom’s car was damaged when hit by a stone.

In another such an incident, a school building was damaged in mysterious fire in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said that a school building was gutted in Beerwah area Budgam this evening.

Government High School Aripanthan was partially damaged by flames started coming out of it.

Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

In another major incident of devastating blaze, three shops were completely damaged while as another was partially damaged in Baramulla district.

A cop from Baramulla Police Control Room told Kashmir Life that mysterious fire engulfed four shops in main bazaar Kunzer around 7:30 PM.

“Three shops were completely damaged,” he said, “one shop was built in concrete and was partially damaged.”

Giving further details, he said, the shops which were completely damaged in the blaze, which took at least two hours to douse, belonged to: Mohammad Akbar Shaikh, r/o Kunzer (Butcher shop); Gh Nabi Ganai, r/o Gukhama (Butcher shop); Mohammad Sultan Wani, r/o Bungam (Furit shop).

“They were constructed of wood,” he added.

The partially damaged fourth shop belonged to Ab Samad Wani, r/o Chandbug. He is a barber.

The cop added that investigation has been set rolling to ascertain the “cause of fire”. “FSL team will be visiting the spot soon,” he said.

Earlier, three passenger vehicles and two auto-rickshaws and a private SUV were destroyed in mysterious fire in Srinagar and Baramulla districts. More so, a few days ago, six shops were set ablaze in Shopian and similar incident happened in Kupwara, apparently for “violating shutdown”.

In one surprising incident, some unknown persons, who police later said were arrested, entered a J&K Bank Business Unit in Budshah Nagar Natipora and damaged the furniture and other articles.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out in Dangerpora village of Sopore town in north Kashmir on Sunday afternoon after the government forces foiled a pro-freedom rally.

Resistance leadership had called the people of adjacent villages to assemble in Dangerpora. Soon after the rally started, forces raided the village and fired several teargas shells to disrupt it, reports said.
