J&K Police on Saturday said that it arrested two militants in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police said they were part of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module in Baramulla.

“The militants namely Safeer Ahmad Bhat, r/o Janbazpora, Baramulla and Farhaan Fayaz Liloo, s/o Fayaz Ahmad Liloo, r/o Jamia Mohalla Baramulla were arrested in a joint operation by Police, Army and CRPF,” a statement issued by police said this afternoon.

“These militants were operating in Baramulla town and adjacent areas headed by one Pakistani militant operating by code name Khalid,” the statement said.

“This module along with the arrested duo were involved in a militant attack on Army/Police convoy on August 16 this year in Khwajabagh Baramulla in which 02 Army men and one police man were killed,” the statement informed, “one AK series rifle, one pistol and other arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession. Further investigation into the matter is going on.”
