Clashes erupted in Maisuma area of Srinagar on Saturday afternoon when people were protesting over the ‘denial’ of medical treatment to JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik.

An eyewitness informed Kashmir Life, “Locals were protesting peacefully demanding Malik should be given proper medical treatment. But police resorted to teargas shelling which resulted in clashes between forces and the locals.”

According to JKLF sources, “Malik, who is under detention in Central jail from last 106 days, is suffering from high fever and one of his arms is swollen. He was given an injection last night which created abscess.”

Three days ago, Malik was first taken to Khyber medical institute where he under went some medical tests. Next day he was taken to Florence hospital, where doctors  suggested to keep him under medical observation. But he was taken back to central jail.

Pertinently his wife Mushaal Malik, who is in Pakistan, has written to UN chief Ban ki Moon and Russian president Vladimir Putin over denial of medical treatment to Malik.
