A passenger vehicle was “set ablaze” by unknown persons in Old Srinagar late on Friday night.

Local sources and police said that a Tempo Traveller was set ablaze by unknown persons near Aali Masjid Eidgah around 8 PM.

A cop from Police station Safa Kadal said that cops are on the spot and investigating the matter.

“We were returning from Masjid after offering Isha Namaz,” a local said, “and we saw police men near a tempo traveller which was on fire.”

The vehicle, local sources said, belonged to one Farooq Ahmad Khanday who lives in Iqbal near Aali Masjid.

“The vehicle was parked on Ali Jan road from Soura side near Aali Masjid,” they said.
