Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday defied ban on Islamabad ‘Chalo’ and tried to march towards South Kashmir.

However, police swung in to action and was immediately arrested and lodged at Nigeen Police Station.

The united resistance leadership had called for Islamabad Chalo today to pay tributes to all the persons who were killed by government forces since July 09. Thousands were injured by bullets and pellets during mass uprising when protests erupted a day after popular militant commander Burhan Wani was killed by forces in Kokernag area on July 08, 2016 evening.

Earlier, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani too tried to take out the march but was arrested by police and lodged at Humhama Police station along with his several party members.

At least 52 civilians were killed by forces since July 09 during mass uprising and resistance leadership had called for Islamabad ‘Chalo’ today.
