Terming the statement “entire Jammu & Kashmir is ours” issued by the Union Foreign Minister Ms Sushma Swaraj as “arrogance of power of this country”, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said that it is a very “old rhetoric of India” about the Jammu & Kashmir and which is just based on the “military power”.

Geelani said that Kashmir related statement of Ms Sushma Swaraj was “her political bankruptcy”. “If she is true in her claims then why is India afraid of holding referendum in Jammu and Kashmir and why are its paid local agents hiding behind more than 10 lakh armed forces.”

The octogenarian leader said that the Kashmir is a disputed territory and Kashmiri people are “struggling against the Indian forced occupation since 1947 and this fact is known to everybody”. “But the Indian rulers are scared to face this truth and they have become habitual of ignoring the ground realities and facts with regarding to the Kashmir.”

A statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (g) said, “Geelani advised the policy makers and the rulers of India to see the writings on the walls.” “The facts never change just by closing the eyes or ignoring the facts,” he said.

The pro-freedom leader also advised the Union Foreign Minister Ms Sushma Swaraj to revisit the history and said, “the region which she is talking about is an internationally acknowledged disputed territory regarding which the UNO has passed about 18 resolutions favouring free and fair referendum in the state to which India is also a signatory.”

Out rightly rejecting any two-party dialogue process between India and Pakistan in solving the Kashmir issue, Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson said that the two countries have held more than 150 rounds of talks till date but no progress has been made with regarding to the permanent solution to the Kashmir dispute.

“India must show seriousness and boldness in accepting the disputed nature of Kashmir and must make sincere efforts in finding out a durable solution to the Kashmir issue in accordance to the washes and aspirations of its people so that the peace is restored in the region,” he said.
