Curfew like restrictions are in place in some Srinagar parts on Tuesday against the killing of a youth in police firing at Palhalan.

Restrictions have been imposed in the areas coming under Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj, Safa Kadal and Maisuma police stations.DSC_0065

“The restrictions are preventive measures to maintain law and order,” police sources said.

“We are facing virtual curfew and nobody is allowed to move freely,” a local informed Kashmir Life over phone from Safakadal area. He added that forces have erected barricades on the roads and link roads.

Heavy contingents of police and CRPF personnel have been deployed all major towns of the Kashmir Valley.

Separatist leaders have called for a valley-wide protest shutdown against the killing of Farooq Ahmad Bhat.

Bhat, 24, was killed in police firing during clashes between protesters and the security forces in Palhalan town of Baramulla district Monday.

The protesters were demanding the return of mortal remains of the parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Guru’s second anniversary was observed yesterday.
