Clashes between protesting students and forces erupted in Pulwama Tuesday after forces allegedly thrashed the protesting students.
The students of Government Higher Secondary School Pulwama had earlier staged protests demanding release of their colleagues.
Reports quoting police officials said that as the protesters were approached to make way for the traffic halted on either side, they refused and started pelting stones on forces.
However locals contested the claims and said that forces thrashed the protesting students to make way for traffic triggering clashes.
