SECRETARIAT

Cop-thrashes-CopThere seems to be no end to independent MLA from Langate Er Rasheed’s woes, both inside and outside the state legislative assembly. A day after he was thrashed inside the house by BJP men, almost lynching him to death, he gheraoed the civil secretariat with his supporters. In the commotion, an over enthusiastic cop kicked the lawmaker, prompting his seniors to thrash the errant cop in full public view. It diffused the situation to some extent but not before Bilal Bahadur managed to click the rarity.

PARTAP PARK

Dr-Haseeb-Drabu-with-PHE-daily-wagersFor nearly a week, the daily-wagers converted the Partap Park into Jantar Mantar. For most of the day, they would use the public address system (PAS) to dish out their message. Some of them were on hunger strike, seeking formal adjustments in the government service. Those on hunger strike had grown frail and weak. A few days later, an ambulance had to be stationed around. Almost everybody visited them. But they were waiting for the government. Finally, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu visited them, assured them of a policy for within three months for adjustments in two-three years and the park turned calm.
