Intense clashes broke between forces and locals in Rampora Qaimoh area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after army arrested a youth in nearby Hawoora village.

Locals pelted stones on the army party that had picked up the youth near Rampora village. “Army resorted to aerial firing and allegedly ransacked the window panes of the houses,” said a local.

Villagers of Rampora alleged that army went on rampant and damaged property found in the lawns.

According to a police official, army was on a patrolling working on a specific input.

“In the meantime local youth started stone pelting and to disperse the youth and make their way out army fired some gun shorts in air,” the official said.

Earlier as this month, families of a few militants of this area complained of harassment at the hands of forces alleging of ransacking their houses regularly.

Stone pelting was going on when this report was being filed.
