A 20-year-old youth drowned in a Nallah while fishing at Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Saturday evening.
A police official told GNS that victim identified as Sajad Ahmad Malik (20) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Adhal village of Kokernag had gone to the Bringi Nallah for fishing. However, when Sajad threw the fishing line, he lost balance and fell into the Nallah and drowned.
Soon after the news about the drowning of youth spread in the area, locals and police rushed to the area and launched joint operation in retrieving the body, the official said.
He said that late in the evening, the police with the assistance of locals retrieved the body from the Nallah. “After conducted all legal formalities, the body was handed over to his relatives for last rites”.
