Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Sunday said that it would resist proposed settlement of retired army men personnel in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Settlement of retired army men and their families in Jammu Kashmir is actually a joint conspiracy of Indian rulers and their Kashmiri stooges who want to change demography of Jammu Kashmir and thus strengthen the illegal occupation of India on it. Criminal silence of Mufti regime and other pro-India parties on recent orders of Indian Defence Minister is a proof of this. People of Jammu Kashmir reject all such detestable plans and to stand against all these ill designs is our moral and constitutional responsibility,” Chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik said in a statement this evening.

Malik said that Indian rulers and their “Kashmiri puppets” have been from a long time trying to weaken the special status of Jammu Kashmir and time and again conspiracies are being hatched to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir. “All this is done to strengthen the illegal occupation of India on Jammu Kashmir. These efforts have been accelerated after the establishment of the RSS led rule in Delhi and Jammu Kashmir. Sometimes issue of state subject law is raised and someday we hear about giving permanent citizenship to West Pakistan refugees. Now Indian rulers are announcing the new program of settling ex-Indian army men and their families in Jammu Kashmir and Indian defence minister Manohar Parikar has issued an order to the state government to identify land for the settlement of these ex-army men,” Malik said.

He said that ironically Mufti regime has maintained a “cunning silence” on this issue as if nothing has been said. He said that the silence of National conference, PDP, congress and all other small and big pro-India parties and leaders on these vital issues is “criminal” and this shows that these parties and leaders are a part of detestable plans of RSS which wants to divide state of Jammu Kashmir on communal lines, harm the historical religious harmony of people, and change the demography of Jammu Kashmir.

Malik said, “if these pro-India have any shame left, they should break their silence on this important issue so that their position is clear and evident.”

He said that Jammu Kashmir is an internationally accepted disputed territory and the decision for its future is still pending. “So the settling of or allotting land to any army men or any citizen of India is the clear violation of the international rules and it has no constitutional or moral justification even according to the constitutions of India and Jammu Kashmir. It is the duty of international community to safeguard the status of internationally recognized dispute and international community should full fill its obligations.”

Malik cautioned that people of Jammu Kashmir will not allow these “ill designs and detestable plan to succeed and all these efforts will meet a stiff resistance from the people of Kashmir”. “The plans to settle ex-Indian army men and their families in Jammu Kashmir and thus change the demography of Jammu Kashmir will be strongly resisted and people of Jammu Kashmir will defend its status and honour with unity of thought and action,” he added.
