National Conference (NC) General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar presided over a high-level meeting along with Members of Legislature and Senior Party Functionaries at NC Headquarter at Nawa-e-Subah Complex Wednesday and said that NC would contest the coming election with full conviction and might while stating that the rehabilitation of flood victims remains a committed and topmost priority for the party.

The NC General Secretary said that the party would contest the election on the basis of the landmark achievements of the Omar Abdullah Government during the past six years and will leave no stone unturned to expose those political parties and political leaders who chose their political rehabilitation over the rehabilitation of the flood affected victims. “We have delivered a term of impeccably honest and transparent governance to the people and have set new benchmarks for infrastructure, economic and financial growth for J&K. Huge leaps have been made in the power sector viz-a-viz addition of 1750 MWs of power to the State’s portfolio while the edifice was laid for the generation and addition of another 9000 MWs in the coming years. Similarly huge strides were made in creating thousands of kilometers of new roads, adding hundreds of new bridges and dozens of State-of-the-art District and Sub-District Hospitals while every single Tertiary Care Hospital in the City stands upgraded to state-of-the-art status during the last six years of Omar Abdullah’s tenure as the Chief Minister of J&K”, the NC General Secretary said.

Saluting the spirit of the youth in playing a prominent and vital role and the rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of the devastating floods, Sagar said the Omar Abdullah Government had focused on youth development and empowerment from its very first day in office by pioneering employment schemes and skill-development projects for our unemployed youth. “Thousands of new entrepreneurs were supported in their endeavors by the Omar Abdullah Government while Tourism saw a record growth year after year with unprecedented asset creation and growth in the Private Sector. This resulted in the creation of thousands of new jobs and reduced the unemployment in the State from when we took over the reins of power. Similarly thousands of unemployed youth were absorbed in various government departments to tackle the issue of unemployment”, Sagar said.

The NC General Secretary also highlighted the commendable and historic performance of the Omar Abdullah Government in the field of Primary, Secondary and Higher Education. “Omar Abdullah brought new Universities, Degree Colleges, thousands of new schools to the State and this was validated in how we succeeded in boosting our literacy ratio. Today a greater number of our youth are in colleges and are graduating with college degrees than in the past. We are committed and will remain committed to the growth and development of our youth under the dynamic leadership of our leader Omar Abdullah”, the NC General Secretary added.
