Marriage-Anniversary-HD-Wallpaper-9Zubin Mehta’s Ehsaas-e-Kashmir (feeling for Kashmir) has started its music well before its scheduled date on Saturday. As Shalimar garden locality has been put under ‘intense’ security cover with some reports suggesting “sharp-shooters have been called in” to monitor the concert, locals have decided to either postpone or cancel their proposed marriage celebrations slated on Sep 07.

Some locals have informed their invited guests through advertisements in local daily, Srinagar Times, that “there will be no marriage celebrations on Saturday”.

“Due to prevailing situation, we are calling off marriage celebrations and are informing our guests that the marriage would be conducted in a simple manner now,” Abdul Hamid Shora, a resident of Shalimar informed his guests through advertisement.

Reportedly, security forces have taken over 60 odd households in the area to keep strict vigil over the concert.

“Yes, most of the marriage celebrations proposed on Sep 7 have been either cancelled or postponed in the area,” Mushtaq Bhat, a local in Shalimar told Kashmir Life over the phone. “Concert is yet to begin, but the whole area has been already put under scanner and security frisking.”

On Saturday, the Shalimar garden will host the India-born world famous conductor of Western classical music, Zubin Mehta and Bavarian State Orchestra, which are scheduled to visit Valley on Thursday with a fleet of scores of BMWs. Mehta and the pack will be playing musical notes in the name of Ehsaas-e-Kashmir concert.
