The Bhaderwah-Doda road has been shut down for vehicular traffic from the last three days in wake of cloudburst and heavy rains causing massive inconvenience to the locals.

Reports said that due to continuous landslides, Bhaderwah-Doda road has been damaged badly at several places even though the officials of engineering department maintained they were doing every possible effort towards restoration.

Sources said there is acute shortage of essential commodities across several parts of Bhaderwah adding that transport wasn’t plying on Bhaderwah-Doda road either where hundreds of light and heavy vehicles have been stranded from the past three days.

Officials of district administration however said that they are supervising the progress on work and both BRO and R&B agencies were on task to clear debris.

“Several machines have been engaged for clearance of landslides including big boulders and it is hoped that road be thrown open this evening provided weather will remain fair,” a senior officer of district administration said.

Another senior officer informed that they were trying their best to open the road as soon as possible but persistent land sliding was playing a spoilsport.

Locals alleged that people were angry against administration as well as BRO and R&B for not restoring the road from the last three days. They have been demanding personal intervention of R&B Minister.

Similar reports came in from Doda-Barath road, Chattro, Keshwon, Thathrai,Sinthan, Duksum, Marwah, Kishtwar, Margan and Dacchan where adverse road conditions have been a cause of frequent accidents.

Residents alleged that department was drawing fictitious bills in the names of poor people while demanding stern action against erring officials.
