Ten Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) trained and mentored entrepreneurs have been nominated for an all-India business competition, the winners of which will get angel investors to finance their ventures.

“This is for the second time that any entrepreneur from the state has been nominated for the contest sponsored by TATA in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN),”the EDI said in a statement on Friday adding, “Last year six entrepreneurs from Kashmir valley made it to the prestigious business idea competition and two of them figured in the list of India’s Top 30 student startups.”

The entries were accepted after conducting a series of countrywide workshops – TATA First Dot powered by NEN – from October 15-Nov 22 in which scores of JKEDI-trained and mentored entrepreneurs also participated, it said.

“Some 434 entries were received for the competition from 101 institutions all over India. The biz competition provides a platform to attract attention through the TATA First Dot People’s Choice Competition and the chance to exhibit themselves and network with peers and experts at the grand TATA First Dot Conference to be held next year.”

The statement said that five winners will be chosen and they will get professional mentoring from various entrepreneurs, angel investors, mentors, experts and other student start-ups via the ‘NEN Mentoring Platform Networking’.

The nominees are Global Tourister owned by Fayaz Lone, Meva Agro Products Pvt Ltd owned by Nasir Rather, Brandvisers Consulting founded by Ishan Verma and Ashish Verma, IAC Software Solutions by Waleed Ahmad Qureshi, Fumbh Design Studio owned by Zayed Rafiq, City Sign Technologies-a joint venture of Harris Ahmad Daloo and Adil Yousuf Wani, Evaluate Bytes – a joint venture by Faheem Tariq and Aquib Nazir Khan, CORP. H. founded by Huzaif Shafi, Cashmere Renaissance Hotel and Restaurant founded by Syed Muhammad Sauleh Naqash and DFour jointly founded by Sumaya Absar, Sheikh Azaan, Iqra Aijaz and Nelofar Bashir, all pursuing management degrees from Islamic University of Science and Technology.

An independent startup ‘Media Mail Advertising Services’ owned by Mir Shariq Mushtaq has also made it to the list of nominees, the statement further added.

The ventures will be chosen after an online voting via http://nominations.tatafirstdot.com/voter/login

The JKEDI has requested netizens from the state to vote for these young entrepreneurs.
