Two siblings were killed when a tractor they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down in a gorge in Manigam area of Lar in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Lar, Imtiyaz Ahmad was quoted by a news gathering agency that a tractor bearing number JK-13 4891, overturned in Manigam area resulting in serious injuries to two persons.

“Both the injured were immediately evacuated to the nearby hospital where doctors declared them brought dead,” the officer said.

The officer identified the slain as Nazir Ahmed Hajam (40) and Shabir Ahmed Hajam (34) sons of Abdul Rehman Hajam resident of Manigam Ganderbal.

After conducted all legal formalities, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the families for last rites, the official said.

A case under FIR no: 67/2015 U/S 279-34A RPC has been registered and further investigations have been taken up, he added.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended at Hajam Mohalla in Manigam when the bodies of the two brothers reached their home.
