SRINAGAR

The police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) have arrested two members of a militant outfit and recovered two pistols in Srinagar city outskirts, official sources Wednesday said.

Official sources told GNS that S0G – which is a counter-insurgency force – during a raid arrested Sajad Ahmad Dar, son of Sanaullah Dar, resident of Methan Chanapora and Javid Rasool Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Nowgam.

The arrests came just two days after SOG arrested three persons along with five pistols in Mahjoor Nagar area.

They said the duo was affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba.

Sources said SOG also recovered two pistols from Sajad’s possession.

After the announcement of State Assembly polls – which are starting from November 25 – the security agencies have intensified anti-militancy operations across the Kashmir region.
