NC Core Group Meet
NC Core Group Meet

National Conference core group meet chaired by party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, which started Monday, concluded Tuesday with the NC core group adopting resolutions on key issues.

The meeting was also attended by NC working president Omar Abdullah besides senior party leaders who constitute the party’s core group.

This was the first core group meeting chaired by the party president Dr Farooq Abdullah following his return to the state after recuperating from a surgery he underwent recently.

“The core group held detailed discussions on the post-election scenario and the functioning of the PDP-BJP dispensation,” the NC spokesman said. “The group has expressed the view that the PDP-BJP govt has failed to provide relief to the victims of the September floods and did not get the relief package submitted by the previous govt approved by the govt of India.”

NC core group resolved that NC would continue to fight for the dignified rehabilitation of flood victims.

“The core group expressed concern over the issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) at the school level violating the rules of the established process and thereby opening the doors for attempts to initiate a demographic change in the State,” NC spokesman said. “The core group resolved that the party would continue to strongly oppose such nefarious designs.”

The core group observed that the new recruitment policy of the PDP-BJP govt which aims at making appointments on considerations other than merit and rationality by over-ruling the established institutions like the SRB and PSC “was an anti-youth measure that should be revoked without any delay”.

The core group resolved that National Conference would support the unemployed youth of the state in their fight against this “anti-youth” measure.

“The core group also decided to rationalize the organizational structure of the party and in this connection a state-wide membership drive will be started at the earliest possible instance,” the spokesman said.

The core group also resolved to give greater representation to youth, students and women at various level of the organization.

“On the second day of the core group meet,” the spokesman said, “Dr Farooq Abdullah took note of the feedback received from senior party leaders and also discussed various issues raised by them in the course of the last two days.”
