Calling the registration of a treason case against him and the Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit ‘a frustration on part of government of India’, Shabir Ahmad Shah, chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Saturday said no such tactics can alter his stand about the Kashmir.

Reports said that a treason case has been registered against Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and Shah in a petition filed by advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra on the orders of Allahabad-UP Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Talking to KNS, Shah said: “After taking a hasty decision of cancelling foreign secretary level talks, the latest episode (registration of treason case against him) reflects a childish attitude of the government of India.”

Shah said that his stand on Kashmir issue can never witness any change even if all the modes of suppression are adopted by the government of India. “They cannot choke my voice for right to self determination as a solution for Kashmir issue. I have been demanding it her as well as have told the same to government of India on every occasion.”

In his petition Mishra has said that Basit had met Shah despite neglecting the Indian Government orders not to meet him which subjected to treason. The petition declared the meet up as conspiracy against the country and demanded the court to punish Basit and Shah. The court later approved the petition and ordered to register the case. Reports said that the next hearing of the case is scheduled on September 5 and the petitioner’s statement would be registered first.

He said that India’s decision to secretary level talks was “uncivilized, undemocratic and an uncalled for move which has been ridiculed by the whole world.”

Shah said Kashmir dispute is an internationally recognized dispute and the same can be resolved through a tripartite dialogue between India, Pakistan and the Kashmiri leadership who are the primary stakeholders in the issue. “No pressure tactics or childish decision can resolve this conflict. Government of India must understand that there are United Nations resolutions that have been passed on Kashmir so it will have to go in accordance with these resolutions on Kashmir,” he added.
