Shutdown continued in south Kashmir’s Tral township for the second consecutive day Thursday over the killing of two local militants in an encounter with troops on Tuesday.

Two Hizb militants, any army officer and a cop were killed in a brief gunfight with troops in Handoora village of Tral on Tuesday afternoon.

The killing triggered a complete shutdown and protests in the town. Reports said the area observed a complete shutdown for the second running day in Tral and Dadsara area bringing normal life to a halt. All shops, business establishments, private offices and petrol pumps remained shut while both public and private transport was off the roads.

No political or militant outfit had called for the shutdown.
