A day after trade accused the city traffic police chief of “dictatorship”, on Monday they hailed the contribution of the same police force.

In a statement issued here, the traders said that the city center traders have called off their scheduled 2-hour token strike for Wednesday following assurance from SSP Traffic Srinagar Maqsood-Uz-Zaman that all the issues as pending with the authorities would be resolved at an earliest.

The traders held a meeting with the SSP wherein all the problems confronted by the trade community were discussed threadbare, the statement said.

“While many of the issues were amicably resolved on the spot, others are likely to be resolved in the coming days,” the traders said.

While hailing the role of traffic police, the traders said, “We candidly acknowledge his (SSP) hard work, but our point is that we need to be taken into confidence on traffic related issues pertaining to our business activities.”

“The talks have been fruitful and we are hopeful that all our demands will be fulfilled in a time-bound manner,” the traders said.
