Thousands of people Sunday took part in the funeral prayers of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Raqib Bashir who died in a gun-battle with forces last evening in Gundpur village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Witnesses said that the mourners kept filling the streets in Zadoora, ancestral village of Raqib, since early Sunday morning.
In adjacent Newa village, youths hurled rocks at the police and paramilitary forces who responded by bursting tear smoke shells.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the area, including the Pulwama town.
