After J&K Police said that a militant was killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district late Tuesday evening, scores of locals were already shifted to district hospital for treatment.

In his late thirties, the slain Hizb Ul Mujahideen militant was killed in an encounter with forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A resident of Karimabad hamlet, Bilal Ahmad Bhat is survived by two minor children, wife, father and mother.
Gunfight broke in nearby Gandoora village when forces launched an operation. The operation started late Tuesday afternoon. As the encounter was going on, local youth resorted to heavy stone pelting in which around three dozen of them were injured.
The house in which slain Bilal was reportedly hiding was razed to ground. The loud speakers from local Masaajid played elegies “in honour of the militants”.
Children, women, and men walked miles to bid emotional farewell to Bilal.
