SRINAGAR: Vigilance Organization Kashmir Wednesday said that the verification conducted by it revealed that the officials of Ward No. 28 (Batamaloo) Srinagar Municipal Corporation have conspired with the beneficiaries and by way of abuse of their official positions facilitated raising of illegal and unauthorized constructions in Firdous Abad, Moomin Abad, Maharajipora Tengpora Bypass and Court Road Areas of the said ward.
The omissions, commissions on the part of above Public servants attracts provisions of offence u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006, Sections 120-B and section 109 RPC, and accordingly a Case FIR No. 05/2017 P/S VOK was registered on Tuesday and the investigation was taken up.
In a statement issued here, Vigilance Organization Kashmir said that the accused including Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh of Gundabal Andergam, Pattan, then Ward Officer, Ward No. 28, SMC, Mohammad Yousuf Qazi of Waterwani Budgam, then Ward Officer W No 28, SMC, were arrested and accordingly lodged in police station Shaheedgunj. “In the course of investigation other accused will also be arrested shortly.”
