A high-level Congress Delegation led by its Chief G.A. Mir Wednesday visited residence of slain former Sarpanch Sajad Ahmad Malik at Batagund Verinag to offer condolences to bereaved family.
The Delegation compromises and senior leaders of the District. The delegation also met the people gathered at Batagund and listened to their grievances.
Congress Leaders which included MLA Ab. Rashid Dar, MLA Usman Majeed MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, General Secretaries Nazir Ahmad Khan, Hilal Ahmad Shah while consoling the bereaved family condemned the innocent killings in strongest words and described it as a move to vitiate the atmosphere again in the valley. The delegation according to the spokesman was apprised by the people that former Sarpanch was innocent and his killing is a political murder.
“The people told the delegation that the killing of Malik was an orchestrated political murder and demanded stern action against the killers. They also urged that the killers be identified and punished for committing this heinous crime, as the slain was innocent and had nothing to do with any kind of objectionable activity, rather he was a dedicated political workers of Batagund Verinag, “the spokesman said.
The visiting delegation appealed people of the area to maintain peace and do not indulge in any kind of confrontation, as the confrontation or violence will deteriorate the peace in the area, which should not happen.
Terming the killing of Sajad Malik as an organized political Murder, Mir lashed out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for failing to protect the innocent people. “She had been claiming to save innocent people from the bullets when out of power, but what happened after she took the reigns of power is known to people of the entire state of J&K,” said Congress state chief.
“Mehbooba spoke a total different language and even condoled the killings of militants earlier, but today’s Mehbooba Ji is absolutely different one, who has compromised on the blood of innocent people for the sake of coming into the power,” he added.
Mir further said that “it was the prerogative of Chief Minister to order a judicial probe at an initial stage of the Killing, but this is unfortunate the she seems to be not concerned about the safety of people and warned the government of serious consequences, incase the killers of Sajad Ahmad Malik and Assadullah Kumar of Devsar are not identified for severe punishment.”
