Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen Tuesday said that attack on telecom centre in Sopore town is the handiwork of Indian agencies.

An employee of the Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), telecom service provider Rafiq Ahmed was killed and two others sustained injuries when gunmen attacked a BSNL showroom at Sopore in North Kashmir on Monday.

In a statement to CNS, United Jihad Council spokesperson Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoting UJC Chief said that Syed Sallahudin while condemning the Sopore attack said that ‘Lashkar-e-Islam’ militant organization has no existence and this fictitious name is being used to defame freedom struggle and Mujhadeen.

“We express our condolences to the family of the victims and assure them Mujhadeen will play their role to expose and punish these miscreants who are trying to create a wedge and spread hatred in the society,” the statement reads.

“We pray for the immediate recovery of the injured Ghulam Muhammad Bhat and Imtiyaz Ahmed and also pray to Almighty Allah to rest the soul of deceased Rafiq Ahmed in peace,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, claiming the responsibility of Tangdar attack in frontier district Kupwara, militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen Tuesday said a group of militants from Hijazi Squad of the outfit gunned down at least 8 Indian Army soldiers.

Hizb Operational Spokesperson Burhad-u-Din said on phone that, “a group of militants from Hijazi Squad of Hizbul Mujhadeen created panic among Indian soldiers near Darshi post in Tangdhar Kupwara, when they after cornering them from all sides, showered countless bullets on them, killing at least 11 Indian soldiers.

“It was not an infiltration bid but a pre-planned attack. Our one Mujahid Abu Bakar attained martyrdom when he tried to snatch rifle from an Indian soldier. Hizb Chief Syed Sallahuddin, Deputy Commander Hizb Muhammad Saifullah Khalid congratulated to the Hijazi squad and has declared a cash reward for them,” Burhan-u-Din said.

Pertinently, Army on Monday had said three of its soldiers and an unidentified militant were killed, and an Army officer sustained critical injuries when during an infiltration bid militants attack an army party at Tangdhar in frontier district of Kupwara.
