At a party convention in Ganderbal when rival fations of the ruling NC led to choas and confusion by resorting to sloganeering, party provincial president Nasir Aslam Sogami came down from the stage and kicked a worker. The convention at Beehama was presided over party secretary general Ali Mohammad Sagar, local news gatherer CNS said.

Eyewitnesses told teh news agency that scores of supporters of Sheikh Jabbar were on their toes in support of their leader who left Congress for NC.They were angry for the party not in a mood to bestow him the mandate as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was reportedly keen to contest from Ganderbal. Obviously there was another group against Jabbar.

The two grpups literally came to blows against each other after Sagar completed his speech. It was at this momenet that Sogami could not control himself and left the dice and joined the mob. There, he targetted one worker and kicked him rigt, left and centre. An instant recation against the act was stopped by security men surrounding Sogami.

Former MoS Home, Sogami is Omar’s right hand man who is party’s candidate from Amira Kadal.

This is the second such instance in recent past. In April last, Higher Education Minister Akbar Lone, who is famous for his body language, slapped a youth when he tried to draw the attention of Chief Minister towards the problems he was facing. This was reported from rafiabad belt of north Kashmir.
