SRINAGAR: Sihpora village of Langate in Kupwara district is reeling under darkness from last 150 days due to no electricity.

The residents said that besides businesses, our school going children face a lot of problems in absence of transformer in the village.

“Our kids who are studying have to undergo lots of problems in absence of transformer”, they said.

Students said that they are forced to close their books as the dusk falls, because during night there is no power supply due to non-availability of transformer which had developed a technical snag months ago adding that the department is yet to get that repaired.

People are aghast against Power Development for their failure to install the transformer in the village. Residents have appealed to the authorities to look into the matter.

However, MLA Langate, Er Rasheed while talking to Kashmir Life refuted the allegations and said that the transformer developed a technical snag on 2nd of February. “According, to the principles in the constituency, the damaged transformers are repaired on first come first serve basis and following the same procedure, the transformer was installed today at 3 pm in the village.”

He ridiculed the reports that the village is without electricity for last 150 days as reported by a local news gathering agency.

Rasheed condemned the agency for running a ‘concocted’ story. (With inputs from PTK)
