SRINAGAR

Pitching that the ‘unwarranted’ use of force on protestors in Kashmir should be stopped, noted academician Dr Nyla Ali Khan on Tuesday met several pellet victims in Srinagar’s down town.

Talking later to KNS, Nyla, who is NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s granddaughter said that the ‘unwarranted’ use of  force on protestors in Kashmir is condemnable and should be stopped at an earliest.

She added that the democratically elected representatives must play a vital role so that excessive force on the people during protests is not allowed. “Here in Kashmir, people endanger their lives to vote and choose their representatives. It is the responsibility of the democratically elected government to act sans any delay so that people could heave a sigh of relief,” Nyla said.

She maintained that the people who have been victimised by the use of pellets should be rehabilitated and the government must take immediate and appropriate measures for the same. “I went to Old City and met several people who were hit by the pellets. We really have to raise concern over stooping the unwarranted use of force in Kashmir. As a citizen, I am doing by bit,” she said.
