Jammu Kashmir Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan Monday said that government terminated the services of Public Prosecutor and Additional Public Prosecutor in Udhampur and Kathua districts on the basis of their non-performance.
“The performance of Public Prosecutor Udhampur Naresh Kumar Bhagat and Additional Public Prosecutor Kathua Sunil Singh was not up to the mark. They even didn’t bother to attend the official meetings,” Haq told CNS.
Meanwhile, a top official from Law Ministry on condition of anonymity said that the services of Public Prosecutor Udhampur was terminated for being lackadaisical in pursuing the criminal case against the zealots who had attacked and killed Kashmiri truck driver Zahid in Udhampur last year.
Government had received reports of Bhagat’s being “soft” towards the accused during the prosecution that led to shifting of this case to a different trial court in Jammu.
The government has appointed Advocate Rakesh Sharma as Public Prosecutor Kathua.
