While telephonically addressing the funeral procession of the Kulgam youth who was slain in an encounter with Army yesterday, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday said that due to the ‘rigid and stubborn approach’ of India, the loss of precious human lives in Jammu & Kashmir continue.

“Our youth everyday sacrifice their lives to fight the forced military occupation,” he said in a statement.

While paying glorious tributes to the slain youth, Geelani said, “Martyrs place a very heavy responsibility on our shoulders that to carry forward their mission and protect these sacrifices at any cost.”

A spokesperson of the Hurriyat (G) said on the directions of Geelani, general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Islamabad district president Mir Hafizullah, district president Kulgam Mohammad Shaban Dar and Shakih Mohammad Ramzan visited Kulgam and participated in the funeral prayers of the slain youth and expressed their sympathy and condolence with the bereaved family.

In his condolence message, Geelani said, “No conscious human being likes violence by nature but when a person is denied the right to live the life he wants, he has no option but to resist and without caring for the results, he fights back. Kashmiri is a peace loving and a very humble nation and follow “live and let live” policy but India landed its troops in Jammu & Kashmir in 1947 and forcibly enslaved the people of this region,” Geelani said.

“Our nation used peaceful and democratic ways for about 40 long years to oppose the Indian forced occupation but this country paid no heed to those peaceful voices and tried hard to muzzle the voice with the help of its military power. The direction which our freedom struggle adopted after the 1989 was the reaction of the arrogant policies of India and when India continued to close his eyes from the ground realities, the Kashmiri people in 2008, 2009 and 2010 come out on roads in huge number and openly expressed their wishes and desire,” he said.

According to the Geelani, “India once again neglected the referendum of the peaceful public uprising which prompted the youths of the nation to explore other options and they left universities and colleges and choose the path of the brave people.”

“Rigidity and arrogance of India will lead them nowhere and nor can this policy address the Kashmir issue but this disputed region will continue to influence the political, social and economical condition of the whole sub-continent region. The millions of people of this region are badly suffering due to the lingering of the Kashmir dispute and if the issue is not solved on the priority bases, the condition of the common man in this region will further fall to a miserable level,” he added.

Strongly condemning the arrest of its district president Bandipora Rayees Ahmad Mir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu & Kashmir said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district Bandipora was today going to held a meeting at district level and Mir was going to attend the meeting.

“But police arrested him on the way at the Papachan Bandipora and detained him in the police station,”  a spokesman of the party said in a statement.

While terming the police action as proactive and sorrowful, he alleged, “Police actually wants to appease the communal government of BJP and RSS of India by such activities. This district meeting of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is of edification nature and there is no justification in stopping anybody to participate in this. These kinds of actions depict that the police doesn’t want peace and they doesn’t want to give room to the peaceful activities of our organization.”
